Constitution of India
Part III — Fundamental Rights
Article24

Prohibition of employment of children in factories, etc

No child below the age of fourteen years shall be employed to work in any factory or mine or engaged in any other hazardous employment.

In plain language

Children under fourteen cannot be put to work in factories, mines, or other hazardous jobs. This is a hard constitutional floor, not a labour-policy preference.

This wording has been in force since 1950 on this desk.
